My friend Britain introduced me to the Marine Girls last night. Their album is about to be on heavy rotation. Marine Girls are 3 girls recording music in a basement in 1981 in Hertfordshire England- all around age 15-16. Their lo-fi lullabyes are so beautiful and simply complex, with just 2 instruments and vocal harmonies. Sometimes they clap or use a shaker for percussion. You may already know one member - Tracy Thorn - who went on to form Everything but the Girl and came out with one of my guilty pleasures - like the deserts miss the rain- "Missing" in 1994.
You can listen to them here on last fm.
